‘The Bengal’ is an organization of eminent personalities and opinioniated leaders from various segments of society from the State of West Bengal.

‘The Bengal’ is involved in various social project and other activities for upliftment of art, culture, theatre, film and literature in the city of Kolkata.

To strengthen and renew the bonds between all stake holders in the development of West Bengal including both Resident and Non-resident Bengalis and others in the State of West Bengal for overall socio-economic development of the State. This would be undertaken through different programmes and activities including integrated rural development, eradication of poverty, upliftment of weaker sections, provisions for drinking water and other infrastructural facilities, including health and medicare, education, training, cultural, sports and recreational factities and encouraging research & development for accelerated growth of the economy of the State.

The need was felt that there is no common platform of eminent persons of the state, hence a body of distinguished professionals from diverse fields of development activity came together in one platform and gave birth to ‘The Bengal”, who in their individual capacities can give their expert perspective in various sectors of life for the betterment of our society.

This body will also act as a catalyst for the common people and the state and also to keep our city strong both economically and socially and to also build a fairer society and to ensure that the people of Kolkata benefit a better quality of life.

‘The Bengal’ in collaboration with Kolkata Police started a unique project called ‘Pronam’ which is for the senior citizens of the City of Kolkata; a 24 hrs Coordination Control Room for providing assistance to the senior citizens under the Kolkata Police jurisdiction.
